PCE Ltd has been appointed as the specialist contractor to initiate design and procure casting mouldage to provide 50 cells and associated structure using their Secure Living Custody Suite System for the new £17.8 million Custody Suite at Radford Road, Nottingham.

This will be the 15th custody suite that PCE have been involved with in recent times. The 5-wing custody facility will contain 50 cells for male, female and young offenders, together with a purpose-built area for the taking of custody images, fingerprints and DNA samples, all of which will be structurally designed by the PCE in-house design team.

This project will utilise an innovative cell layout requiring the significant investment in new cell and corridor wall mouldage to enable even further improved dimensional accuracy, surface finishes, and accurate incorporation of M&E and security requirements within the components.

Safety

At Nottingham Police Secure Custody Suite an assembly/build methodology plan complete with all necessary risk assessments and method statements ensured that all safety issues were identified ahead of time and managed accordingly.

Quality

The clients team visited manufacturing facilities to sign off one of each respective component type, to be used for acceptable standard acceptance purposes. They were very complimentary on the coordination with other trades in order to deliver the desired M&E strategy and the high quality being achieved.

Speed

The site assembly team completed all erection works in 18 working days, well ahead of the initial contract programme. The Client and Wilmott Dixon were delighted with the achievements of the whole PCE team involved with the project.

Value

To ensure all components arrived on site ready to be installed, temporary works requirements were progressed offsite wherever possible during the manufacture stage thus reducing the requirement for on-site manual handling, drilling, and cutting works.
