Nottingham Custody Suite structurally complete

The design, Offsite manufacture and construction of PCE’s Ltd Secure Custody System solution for Main Contractor Willmot Dixon's £17.8 million contract to provide a new Custody Suite for Nottinghamshire Police at Radford Road, Nottingham has been completed.

The 5 custody cell wings, which were built using 313 offsite engineered precast concrete elements was completed ahead of programme resulting in 6 weeks programme improvement for the client. This was achieved by improvements during the design and manufacturing phases to PCE’s HybriDfMA secure custody system resulting in greater efficiency in construction details and connections, along with enhanced quality and efficiency.

The construction phase proved to be the perfect platform for further development and pushing established boundaries to determine how additional efficiency could be realised from the design and Offsite manufacture improvements developed for this project. The use of Building Information Modeling technology and the digitised PCE system assembly manual provided the multi-skilled site team with clear, detailed and comprehensive guidance at every stage of the onsite assembly process. The usual focus by PCE on continuous improvement throughout all the different aspects of the project once again enabled a reduction in the lead-in to site commencement, along with ensuring that the works were completed quickly, safely and to the highest quality standards. A fantastic effort by all the company personnel involved, including the site delivery team, meant it was a job well done and another great success for the PCE Secure Custody system.
