The new IBIS Hotel for the budget hotels operator ETAP has been built at Pollard Street to the group’s award-winning blueprint for new hotels throughout Europe in a fast track contract over just nine months.
The ground floor features a steel framed structure which house retail units at street level.
In all some 800 precast concrete elements were erected over a 14 week period to form the superstructure of the hotel. An outer leaf of brickwork was then constructed by other contractors to complete the four external elevations.
The solution combines the benefits of prestressed floors with solid bedroom floors and solid external and internal walls, whilst meeting the brief for both cost and quality – all walls and floor soffits to each room were suitable for direct decoration.
PCE was also responsible for the installation of the off-site manufactured shower pods supplied by the main contractor.
