PCE Ltd has begun work on the Hybrid structure which will form the basement of the final phase of the Vulcan Mill residential development in Manchester.
It consists of precast concrete columns, walls, composite concrete/steel Deltabeams and prestressed concrete hollowcore with a reinforced structural concrete topping. Stair flights with pre-fitted permanent hand rails are also being installed. When the basement is complete, PCE will commence work on the six levels of structure above ground utilising their HybriDfma structural solution approach. The seven-storey structure will contain a hundred and one one and two bedroomed apartments, a basement carpark, an under croft parking and amenity spaces. The new building will sit adjacent to the original Vulcan Mill, a former Victorian machine works, which was refurbished in 2007 to create 120 apartments.
