PCE Ltd has been appointed as the specialist contractor to provide the design, procurement, and construction of the concrete cell facilities for the new £18m Custody Suite at Woburn Road Bedford using their proven HybriDfMA Secure Custody System.
This continues the close working partnership with Main Contractor Willmott Dixon who are delivering the project for Bedfordshire Police, with Structural Engineers BJB Consultancy and Project Architect Norr Architects Limited. The new custody suite will accommodate 22 cells in three wings and will include offices for police and staff, as well as parking and associated external works. The scheme will take benefit from PCE’s ‘kit of parts’ approach to deliver the custody suite cells with its standard modular precast concrete wall and floor components which are configured to suit the specific needs of the project.
The PCE Secure Custody System Overview gives generic information as to how this project will be accomplished whilst a case study of the previous completed scheme for Nottinghamshire Police can be found on the Secure Custody page. PCE’s extensive experience of working in complex logistical environments where live buildings must remain operational will come into play as the new Custody Suite location is situated at the existing Bedfordshire Police Kempston headquarters site.
