Bolton interchange update 2 – £48 million bus station podium »
The construction will require minimal propping due to the site being so restricted with regard to both space and other trades. Night time possession work will be required due to the close proximity of two train lines. Bespoke design and installation techniques are necessary due to the crane restrictions that are in place and jib limitations due to the proximity of the train lines. A specific and accurate construction sequence is required in order to hit possession windows. The site is an inner city area, requiring a concise logistic plan and minimal disruption to the surrounding public.
The project was fully modelled and coordinated with the architect and other trades in order to make the most of potential design efficiencies. This was originally an insitu scheme, which was converted to a precast solution in order to bring considerable efficiency savings to the programme. A waterproofing detail in the concrete topping will be provided, as opposed to the wearing course which will greatly reduce maintenance and resulting costs for the client.
