The last of 315 pre-cast beams that make up the frame element has now been erected at Level 6 of the new Kingston University London Town House in London.
6 double tees remain, which when installed will complete the first phase of PCE Ltd's work on site. The majority of the suspended flooring is formed from 229 double tees weighing up to 18 tonnes, with over 1,300 m² of hollowcore flooring up to 500mm deep also being used. PCE received a contract worth over £8 million to provide the concrete structure on a design, manufacture and construct basis.
The use of offsite manufacture leads to an enhanced quality of the completed building - and a faster on site build, with reduced vehicle movement requirements, that would otherwise have occurred thus reducing congestion for this busy area of Kingston. The new building when completed will act as the University's front door and offer a warm welcome to everyone including students, staff, alumni, as well as the local community and visitors from further afield.
