PCE awarded Building B of new Bristol Assembly development

PCE’s HybriDfMA Frame system chosen again

PCE Ltd is pleased to have been awarded the contract by Galliford Try to design, manufacture, and construct Building B at the Assembly development in Bristol and follows on from the previous contract award of Assembly Building C.

PCE’s HybriDfMA Frame system solution as selected for Building C will also be used for Building B, comprising Offsite manufactured structural steel and precast concrete components, together with insitu reinforced concrete. Building B, a seven-storey office block with the ground floor set back to allow access to the River Avon, is the third of three structures being built of a phased construction programme for Bristol’s exciting new Assembly Development by property developer Bell Hammer working with insurer, AXA, the architect being AHMM, and consulting engineers are ARUP.

PCE's 'Kit of parts' approach

The PCE HybriDfMA designed structural framed building will provide 2,616m² of office space utilising PCE’s extensive experience of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), and their ‘Kit of parts’ approach providing as much advantageous Offsite construction as possible for the very busy city centre location. The Assembly development includes a new public area, with pedestrian connections through the site and a new floating pontoon. The development will create a new venue for Bristol with an innovative form of people-friendly workspace. The development plan draws from the character, history and context of the site, integrating it into the city. PCE’s Project Manager Jordan Shaw commented:
