Award-winning Town House project "a building worthy of the international stage"

A building that successfully combines technical, spacial and BREEAM excellence

PCE Ltd adopted it HybriDfMA offsite structural approach for the Kingston University Town House project, located in Kingston upon Thames near London.

The Town House has been hailed as being "technically and spatially excellent" and features two main devices - a courtyard and colonnade - according to a recent report on the RIBA Architecture website, which includes information detailing how it addresses the complex functional demands, acoustic considerations, innovative and successful design features - and it's sustainability focus. Recognition for the project, says the article, includes the following:-

  • RIBA London Award 2021
  • RIBA London Client of the Year 2021
  • RIBA National Award 2021.

The Town House has had a strong focus on sustainability considerations, state the report's authors Grafton Architects.

"The building performs well environmentally, achieving BREEAM Excellent in design. Its embodied carbon has been reduced through structural efficiency, the use of better concrete mixes, and designing out the need for a carbon intensive basement."

PCE’s HybriDfMA Bespoke System solution enabled an architecturally complex structure and facade to be economically achieved by an Offsite and Modern Methods of Construction approach. With extensive areas of the building’s internal and external concrete finishes and jointing between components being visible, component manufacture and construction procedures were controlled to the highest quality.
