PCE Design Team visits Leeds University Project

"PCE HybriDfMA at its best"

The PCE in house design team responsible for the structural design of the PCE HybriDfMA solution used for the Sir William Henry Bragg Building at Leeds University where BAM Construction Ltd is the Main Contractor recently visited the project on completion of the frame construction.

The visit led by PCE’s Design Director Chris Powell gave the opportunity for the team to critically assess how their design and the design processes used had contributed to providing the client with an exceptional structure as well as enabling ‘lessons learnt’ to be captured for improvement and innovation on future projects.

Chris Powell commented:

"As with all such projects the devil is in the detail and this building is a very good example of how PCE’s in house structural design capability can achieve efficient and accurate designs providing excellence in the jointing and connection details for the offsite engineered structural components that was key to the visible success of the project.

"Our Design for Manufacture and Assembly philosophy together with our 3D modelling, structural and construction expertise that the team possesses, enabled the low tolerance accuracy of manufacture and construction to be achieved for the many large precast concrete and structural steel components used for the project.

"At the conclusion of the visit the whole team was proud of what it had achieved, and the project is certainly PCE HybriDfMA at its best!"
