PCE celebrate 50 years of excellence

The company has enjoyed 50 years of successful continuous development, providing its many clients with high quality, certainty and excellence for a diverse range of projects, whilst maintaining and developing a highly motivated, safety aware, and well trained employee culture throughout the business. PCE is looking forward to an even more exciting future.

Kingston University Town House

PCE was responsible for the structural design, procurement of offsite manufactured components, including external facades, and onsite assembly of this exemplar Modern Methods of Construction building which won the prestigious 2021 RIBA Stirling Prize and then went on to win the 2022  European Union Prize for Contemporary Architecture.

2020

PCE Limited becomes and Employee Owner Trust business

20 years after Vince Wetton instigated greater employer ownership of the business, Managing Director Nickie Brown led the company into being owned by all of the employees via an Employee Owned Trust.

Maximising repetition by using standard components to form a kit of parts for the company systems ensured faster design and build solutions with higher quality.

Creation of the Senior Leadership Team

2019 saw the development of a Senior Leadership Team of the Directors and other senior management to give a broader decision making and strategic forum.

2017

VW Dealership, London

The five storey structure containing a multi level showroom, offices and multi storey car park initiated the formalisation of PCE's HybriDfMA approach utilising BIM techniques and 3D modelling.

2016

Digital Strategy commenced

Building on the growth of digital applications in design and management of projects and business operations, PCE instigated a flexible digital programme to ensure that as a company it would always be leading from the front.

2015

We rebranded our image

PCE recognised the need to rebrand the company and develop a new approach to its marketing effort, complete with linked website and social media activity.

2012

Long span, Pre-finished GT Unit patented

The development of a 400 deep long span unit for car park construction, prefinished in the manufacturing factory was developed and named after George Tootell the companies Technical Director.

2009

Evolution of DfMA approach

PCE championed through their design processes, the evolution of a Design for Manufacture and Assembly approach to provide clients with higher quality and programme certainty by using offsite construction techniques.

2007

We develop SlingSafe as part of our innovative health and safety approach

Safe on site working has always been, and always will, be critical to PCE's success.  Recognising health and safety concerns in unloading site deliveries, the SlingSafe unloading system was developed and patented.

Vince Wetton hands over Managing Directorship to Nickie Brown

After 34 years, founder Vince Wetton handed over the Managing Directorship to Nickie Brown who had joined the company as a Site Operative in 1997.

2005

Design and build service created

The Directors recognised the opportunity to provide a full design and build service based on the companies previous experience and innovations.

2004

Investors In People accreditation attained

The importance of a trained and enthusiastic workforce leading to Investors in People accreditation signified the great company ethos.

We were a significant contributor to the build of the iconic Wembley Stadium

PCE were responsible for the installation of all precast concrete terracing and associated components to form the 90,000 seater bowl.

2001

We invest in our own crane fleet

Increasing demand for PCE services within the construction sector led to the investment in suitable craneage to ensure certainty of project delivery.

2000

Employee Share Ownership Plan implemented

Vince was determined that all employees within the company should have the opportunity of becoming shareholders and enjoy the benefits that could be derived from a successful company.

1991

Our growth requires new HQ offices

With increased PCE activity and growth of personnel, coupled with the development of Tecroc grout materials, a sister company of PCE, new offices at Atherstone and production plant were developed. 

1988

Innovative structural systems such as Contiframe developed

Vince realised the possibilities of developing PCE Limited as more than just an on site erector to encompass full structural frame solutions.

1987

Great team ethos

The first 14 years of PCE Limited produced a large portfolio of projects due to the successful teamwork of the on site erection crews.

1982

Kodak High Bay Warehouses

PCE's approach to the design of temporary works for the erection of two high bay warehouses enabled their client Dow-Mac Concrete to be awarded the project which went on to win the 2nd prize at the 1985 Cemburea Awards where  42 entries were received from 17 European countries.

1973

PCE becomes PCE Limited

Following 4 years as a sole trader, Vince launched PCE as a limited company enabling it to take on larger scale projects.

1969

Vince Wetton started PCE as a sole trader

Initially having worked as a crane driver, Vince realised the opportunity to build a precast concrete frame erection only based company.
