We’re pleased to share that PCE received its first project award on HMP Gartree last week, with Wates recognising the team with their Offsite Partner Award.
This is a fantastic early milestone; to be recognised at this stage — with one third of the 14,390 precast elements already manufactured before installation has even commenced — reflects the dedication, teamwork, and commitment that’s gone into the project so far, and the strong momentum now building across the programme.
Our strategic alliance with Wates is built on collaboration, early engagement, and a shared belief in doing things the right way. Offsite excellence sits at the heart of PCE’s mission, and our systemised DfMA approach (Secure Prison system) continues to bring certainty, quality, and confidence to complex projects like HMP Gartree, and other prisons built using Secure Prison, including HMP Five Wells, HMP Fosse Way, and HMP Millsike.
With superstructure streams now fully established and the project rapidly stepping up, this award is an encouraging sign of what lies ahead. As we look ahead to 2026, we remain focused on working closely with Wates, supporting our teams, and delivering many more successes together.
Adam Clarke, Project Director at PCE noted:
“This award is a real credit to the teams across PCE and Wates who’ve put in a huge amount of work behind the scenes to get HMP Gartree off to such a strong start. To achieve this level of progress before installation has even begun says a lot about the collaboration, commitment, and belief in offsite delivery across the project.”
Receving the award, PCE's Operational Managing Director, Karl Hubbard, commented:
It’s great to see the team’s efforts recognised so early on HMP Gartree. This award highlights what can be achieved when strong collaboration and offsite expertise come together. It demonstrates the strength of our alliance with Wates and the confidence in PCE’s ability to deliver high-quality, systemised offsite solutions at scale.”
