PCE is proud to receive Kier’s London and Thames Supply Chain Innovation Award 2025 for our innovative design, manufacture and construction using HybriDfMA Frame on The Fitzrovia W1 project. This recognition highlights our commitment to efficiency, sustainability, and high-quality construction through Modern Methods of Construction (MMC).
The Fitzrovia W1 is an 86,000 sq ft, six-storey Grade A mixed-use building in the heart of Tottenham Court Road. PCE achieved structural completion in just 26 weeks with only 25 operatives at peak, demonstrating the speed and efficiency of our pre-engineered, kit-of-parts approach.
PCE’s HybriDfMA Frame kit of parts for The Fitzrovia W1 integrates precast concrete, in-situ concrete, and 90% recycled structural steel, reducing cost, waste, and embodied carbon while delivering exceptional quality. Key sustainability achievements include:
- 30,000kg CO2 saved using Basalt Fibre Reinforcement structural topping
- 237,000kg CO2 saved using 90% recycled steel in composite beams
- 25,000kg CO2 saved with Ground Granulated Blast-Furnace Slag (GBBS) cement mix
- Plasterboard eliminated, thanks to superior concrete and steel finishes
HybriDfMA Frame’s kit-of-parts system reduces skilled labour needs, derisks projects, and accelerates assembly. Breaking components down into a kit of building parts streamlines logistics, with offsite quality control and modern manufacturing technology ensuring superior finishes in line with client and architect expectations. It enabled precise construction just six inches from existing buildings in busy Tottenham Court Road, whilst minimising disruption.
Seamless teamwork between PCE and Kier was key to delivering this innovative solution. Winning this award reaffirms our commitment to sustainable, high-performance, and predictable construction.
Thomas Gray, Supply Chain Director at Kier, noted:
