Jason first crossed paths with PCE as a prisoner through ROTL (Release on Temporary Licence) while contributing to the construction of HMP Millsike in York during 2023. Starting in the holding yard, Jason’s dedication and values quickly stood out, perfectly aligning with PCE’s ethos. His commitment caught the eye of the project team, and with the mentorship of PCE’s Site Supervisor, Derek Wood, Jason began exploring diamond drilling. Derek recognised Jason’s potential early on and took him under his wing, paving the way for his progression into the Diamond Drilling role.
After his release, Jason’s journey continued with remarkable momentum. Within just a month, he interviewed for and secured a position as a Trainee Diamond Driller with PCE. He then hit the ground running, having consistently been nominated for PCE's Employee of the Month, ultimately winning the award in August. Jason’s passion for learning and excellence shone through as he completed an NVQ Level 2 course in Diamond Drilling in record time - a true testament to his determination and work ethic.
Jason’s efforts have been impressive and epitomise the spirit of PCE, and from January 2025, he will be promoted to Diamond Driller.
Jason noted:
"I'm over the moon! It's great that PCE have seen my hard work and given me this opportuntiy. I've also been put on other courses since first meeting PCE, who have kept their word on everything promised.
This has changed my life, and is something I really appreciate. PCE have given me a second chance, and I won't let them down!"
John Casey, Head of Quality at PCE noted:
"Jason’s accomplishment is truly inspiring and I’m thrilled for him, securing his NVQ in Diamond Drilling is a significant achievement which showcases his dedication and work ethic.
Jason is a shining example of how recognising potential and fostering growth can lead to successful rehabilitation and a brighter future.”
Jason’s story is a powerful reminder of the transformative impact of prisoner engagement initiatives, showcasing how talent, potential, and hard work can lead to successful rehabilitation and reintegration into society. His journey reflects PCE’s commitment to nurturing growth, providing opportunities, and embracing second chances.
Congratulations, Jason, on everything you’ve achieved so far. We’re proud to have you as part of the PCE family, and look forward to seeing your continued growth!
