Bracknell update 12 – approaching the cladding stage

Project nearing completion on time to programme

Precast concrete units that have been installed at the Lexicon, Bracknell required no insitu structural topping. The units arrived to site on a just-in-time basis with a factory applied anti slip finish.

Over 24,000m² of PCE Ltd developed prestressed concrete GT long span flooring units have been produced and installed during the lifetime of the project. The GT long span flooring solution from PCE minimises structural depth and does not require any onsite structural topping compared to other precast concrete systems: this results in a structural weight saving of approximately 3.5 tonnes per car parking space.

One of the most interesting aspects of the project has been the curved car park access ramp for the 1,300 space multi-storey car park, which was entirely designed and built by PCE. The ramp was constructed offsite utilising PCE’s own developed products and techniques. The Lexicon Bracknell will not just simply be a car park; the retail space at the front is also part of PCEs design and build package. Once completed, the facility will be a "next generation" shopping and leisure destination. The multi-storey car par will accommodate 1,300 vehicles.
