Bracknell update 3 - car park and retail outlet build gathers momentum

PCE design and build package demonstrates offsite benefits

Once completed, the Lexicon Bracknell - the new name for a major town centre redevelopment being undertaken in the town centre - will be the next generation of shopping and leisure destinations. Those arriving by car will be able to park in a 1,300 space multi-storey carpark designed and built by PCE Ltd.

Construction work is progressing well, as shown by the images above. PCE have been working in co-operation with main contractor MACE , designing and building the 1,300 space multi-storey carpark. Offsite production of the precast units will enable PCE to meet the 40 week onsite programme which commenced at the end of last year.

Car park and retail space

The structure is not just simply a car park as the retail space at the front is also part of the PCE design and build package. This is the third consecutive car park structure contract for PCE that has involved the construction of adjoining retail space. Over 24,00m² of the PCE developed GT long span flooring units are again being used to minimise on site construction times, reducing the depth of structure, number of erection lifts, and the amount of follow on trades as there is no insitu structural topping required and the units arrive to site on a just in time basis with a factory applied anti slip finish.
