Health & Safety success at Chapel Wharf

Continuous focus on construction site safety

PCE has an exemplary reputation for all aspects of Health & Safety in the construction industry as a major provider of Offsite engineered HybriDfMA structural solutions.

This has been well demonstrated by their commitment to keeping everyone safe at the Chapel Wharf development in Salford, Manchester during the onsite construction period of 90 weeks. Whilst working together on Dandara’s High Rise 995 apartment development, Main Contractor Sir Robert McAlpine often awarded individual PCE site staff with employee of the month safety awards. The PCE site team was also at the top of the Health & Safety leader board on numerous occasions thus acknowledging recognition of the safety focussed culture demonstrated by the PCE workforce at all levels. PCE’s Construction Manager for the project, Salman Bathh commented:

“PCE has delivered great results at Chapel Wharf through great teamwork with high standards of Safety and Quality. TEAM PCE have led the Safety, Health, Environment, Quality (SHEQ) Table multiple times throughout the duration of the project, which proves their professional approach to the client, main contractor and other trades working on the site.”

Rohan Evans, Sir Robert McAlpine’s Project Director for the Salford Chapel Wharf project said:

“Throughout the Salford, Chapel Wharf Project PCE has always been seen as a professional team of highly skilled individuals."

The site team had a truly collaborative approach with both SRM and other sub-contractors to ensure the logistics, lifting, offloading and placement of products was done in a well-considered way that minimised disruption to others.

Proactive safety approach

PCE are a team that are proactive in their approach to safety and that everyone goes home safely. Not only this, but their maturity and commitment shone through by showing great leadership when participating on the Project Safety Leadership Team. This commitment is clearly evident with PCE winning the monthly SHEQ award on multiple occasions not only for safety but their approach to the Environment and Quality. The management team, supervisors and operatives should be extremely proud in what they have achieved by topping out the final buildings on time and without incident.
