PCE raises an incredible £10,000 for local children’s charity Simon’s Heroes

Fundraising partnership only nine months old

PCE Ltd has raised and impressive sum for local children’s charity Simon’s Heroes, just nine months into a fundraising partnership.

Employees of PCE voted for the Tamworth based organisation to be the company’s first ever charity partner back in May 2018. Since then, PCE employees have raised an impressive £5,000, which has been matched by the company - to result in a whopping £10,000 being presented to the Simon’s Heroes.

Variety of fund-raisers

Employees raised the funds through a variety of creative and fun activities including dress down days, a children’s duck race, cake sales, a children’s Christmas colouring competition, a Christmas party charity auction and ‘Tache-Vember’. A number of staff members also ran the Simon’s Heroes Abbott Trail Run – an annual 5K or 10K run through Hopwas Woods. Registration is now open for this year’s event, which takes place on July 28. The fantastic sum will be used to support the charity’s vital work helping children with life-limiting illnesses and has already been making a difference to youngsters in the community. The donation from PCE Ltd funded the majority of a recent project to provide life-enhancing equipment for a local three-year-old boy who suffers with congenital hypotonia (decreased muscle tone). This results in poor strength and lower limb weakness and impacts his balance and co-ordination. The youngster has also been diagnosed with autism and PDA (pathological demand avoidance).

Purchase of vital equipment enabled

Thanks to PCE, Simon’s Heroes were able to purchase five pieces of sensory integration equipment which will help the youngsters build strength, confidence and make his programme of daily therapies more enjoyable.

Nickie Brown, Managing Director of PCE, said:

‘We are proud of our employees approach to raising funds and supporting their chosen charity, Simon’s Heroes, our aim was to help make a difference to our local community and we are delighted with what has been achieved so far.’

PCE will continue to partner and support Simon’s Heroes during 2019, with ongoing fundraising activities being posted on the company's website. Simon’s Heroes Chairman, Craig Smith said:

“These charity partnerships are vital to our success in enabling us to help as many local children as possible and we are absolutely blown away by the fantastic amount that has been raised by PCE. This fantastic donation has already been put to good use helping make life that little bit easier for a local family. We cannot thank PCE and it's employees enough for their fundraising efforts.”
