Chapel Wharf update 11 – 3,400 offsite engineered precast units in 37 weeks

33% of the precast concrete units installed for residential construction project

PCE’s offsite Hybrid engineered approach to construction (HybriDfma) requires a reduced on-site workforce, provides enhanced Health and Safety, and ensures speed of construction and a high quality build.

Developer Dandara's 995 Build to Rent apartment scheme at Chapel Wharf, a 4.2 acre site adjacent to the Lowry Hotel and between the River Irwell and Chapel Street in Salford, Manchester is currently being built by Main Contractor Sir Robert McAlpine. Construction is currently being carried out three levels below the final level of Block A and two levels below the finished construction level of Block B.

After 37 weeks on site PCE has erected over 3,400 units, just over 33% of the total number of offsite components that will be required for the overall project, with an average of 32 deliveries a day being delivered and erected by four tower cranes.

The residential project for developer Dandara and main contractor Sir Robert McAlpine will consist of four tower blocks of varying heights from 15 to 23 storeys.
