Royal Holloway update 3 – precast and insitu concrete with structural steelwork

Collaboration is the key for successful project outcome

The Hybrid construction approach adopted by PCE Ltd is very much in evidence during the latest construction phases the future home of the Royal Holloway University of London Department of Electronic Engineering.

PCE are responsible for providing the three storey structure plus substructure and roof construction using a combination of precast concrete, structural steelwork and insitu concrete.

Once open, the new Department of Electronic Engineering will benefit from the high quality, technology led building being constructed for students and staff, with lecture theatres, seminar rooms and flexible multi functional laboratories.

Main Contractors

The main contract was awarded to OsborneStride Treglown are the client’s Architect and Arup the Engineer with Colin Smith being the PQS.

Osborne placed a contract worth in excess of £2million with specialist contractor PCE, to provide the Hybrid structure for the building on a design and build basis.
