Birmingham construction project demonstrates precast advantages
Carillion is the main contractor for the enabling, infrastructure and demolition work on the Paradise Circus redevelopment project site and also secured the contract for the first building at Paradise – One Chamberlain Square.
PCE Ltd are currently working on the project – with a contract value approaching £5 million – to design and build a two storey hybrid structural frame at the city centre location.
The latest steel Delta Beam units are the main focus of this stage of the development; they will provide the structural hybrid frame solution with insitu concrete being used where necessary to facilitate structural connections.
About Delta Beams
The Delta Beam (illustrated, above) has been chosen for this project on the grounds that it acts compositely, providing the benefits of having a shallow steel downstand section with the inherent benefits of a concrete beam.
Delta Beams have successfully been deployed on a number of recent projects by PCE, including the award-winning flagship Volkswagen sales and service centre in Brentford, CEF‘s new data, IT and marketing centre in Durham and the Capella laboratory building in Cambridge.
