Offsite techniques enable construction when space is at a premium

Three blocks of precast student accommodation

The site of the most recent student accommodation project in Lincoln would present a real challenge with more "traditional" construction methods. The site is a particularly tight one, being bordered on two sides by a main road and a canal.

PCE Ltd are able to build the facility thanks to the benefits of precast offsite construction techniques. A combination of a mobile and a tower crane will enable them to complete the project within the anticipated onsite duration of less than 6 months.

Despite the tight logistics, the three blocks will be up to eleven stories high on the near £1 million project. Individual room bathroom pods are included amongst the offsite manufactured precast concrete components. Bowmer and Kirkland are main contractor for the University of Lincoln’s continued expansion of their accommodation facilities at Brayford Wharf.
