Hybrid structural solution project commences
PCE Ltd has commenced the construction of a Hybrid Structure for the new building to be the home of the Royal Holloway University of London Department of Electronic Engineering.
Once open, the new Department of Electronic Engineering will benefit from the high quality, technology led building being constructed for students and staff, with lecture theatres, seminar rooms and flexible multi functional laboratories.
Osborne, a family owned business, placed a contract worth in excess of £2 million with specialist contractor PCE, a business owned by its employees, to provide a Hybrid structure for the building on a design and build basis.
Design of the structure by PCE commenced at the start of 2017 with the start of manufacturing of the offsite components in March and onsite erection commencing at the end of April.
The expected overall erection period of the structure on site is 21 weeks and PCE anticipate the maximum number of their employees on site to carry out the works to be 13.
