Paradise Circus update 8 - two storey hybrid structural frame takes shape

PCE's hybrid construction techniques showcased in second city

PCE Ltd's most recent work on the hugely impressive Paradise site in Birmingham is beginning to display in detail many of the component elements that are combining to demonstrate the effectiveness of their hybrid construction approach.

PCE's PreFastCore system of structural lift, stair and combined lift and stair cores are seamlessly blending with precast concrete columns, beams, walls, prestressed hollowcore flooring and steel DeltaBeam units to provide the structural hybrid frame solution with insitu concrete being used where necessary to facilitate structural connections. Carillion is the main contractor for the enabling, infrastructure and demolition work on the site and also secured the contract for the first building at Paradise – One Chamberlain Square.

"A new presence on Birmingham’s skyline"

Simon Dingle, Operations Director at Carillion, was recently quoted on the Carillion website as saying:

"While 2016 was a year dominated by demolition, 2017 will be a year of construction. This next stage will be one of the most exciting of all, as One Chamberlain Square starts to take shape and Paradise begins to offer a new presence on Birmingham’s skyline, which has already changed so much in such a short space of time.”
